We are pleased to welcome Yasmeen Seddiq who joins the firm’s Client Advisory team as Senior Principal. Get to know Yasmeen as she shares some insights about herself below.
What do you do at Focus and what do you enjoy most about your role?
Yasmeen: As Senior Principal on the Client Advisory team, I am responsible for leading the firm’s wealth planning strategies and services at Focus. What I enjoy the most about my role is the opportunity to connect with clients and their families, have meaningful conversations, and build long-lasting relationships.
As the year slowly comes to an end, what are you looking forward to in 2023?
Yasmeen: I look forward to a healthy and prosperous year, more quality time with my family, going back to completely normal after the pandemic, and a more stable economy.
What is the most insightful piece of advice you have received? How and why is it still relevant to you today?
Yasmeen: It may be overused advice, but “step out of your comfort zone” is advice I have followed at different stages of my life and career. It constantly reminds me to challenge myself and invest more time in learning when reaching plateaus. These efforts would make me feel re-engaged and armed with knowledge to better serve clients.
Do you have any words of wisdom for anyone interested in a career in financial planning?
Yasmeen: Choosing a career in wealth planning is rewarding. You have the opportunity to meet dynamic individuals and their families, learn about their experiences and concerns, and help them make informed decisions. Therefore, it requires strong communication and analytical skills and the desire to help others succeed. If you plan to take it as a career path, you must always be curious and never stop learning to differentiate yourself from others, and always remember to have some fun along the way!
Are you a morning person or a night person?
Yasmeen: I am definitely a morning person and love getting a head start on my day. My mornings begin with some me-time to plan my day. Afterward, I do my yoga routine, drink coffee, catch up on the news, and finally get ready for the biggest challenge of my day, which is getting my little ones ready for school! This way, I am happier, energetic, and in a much more productive frame of mind.
